Abstract
A dynamic model of faulty rolling element bearing is proposed in this paper for descripting the vibration features of deep groove ball bearings, which have a single defect on the surface of the outer race. The existing fault mechanism models cannot describe the double impact phenomenon of a faulty ball bearing. To address this problem, an approach by combining the time-varying displacement excitation and the time-varying contact force excitation is employed to establish a reasonable dynamic model, which explicitly reveals the contact process of rolling element and outer race on the defected zone. The coupled solution of dynamic equations is obtained by using Runge-Kutta method. The proposed dynamic model provides a strong theoretical basis for explaining the double impact phenomenon of a faulty ball bearing.
