Abstract :
A dual mode quarter-cut dielectric resonator based 4-pole quasi chebyshev filter having a bandwidth of 24 MHz at C-band is designed and fabricated. Dual mode application of such a miniaturized resonator for the microwave filtering purpose is a very promising technique that results in the significant miniaturization in terms of weight and footprint of the filter. Realized filter shows almost 60% reduction in size and better than 50% footprint reduction compared to an equivalent single mode cylindrical dielectric resonator based 4 pole filter. Simulated and measured responses are in good agreement with each other and shows the efficacy of such resonators.
