Abstract
Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) is a multicarrier transmission scheme that has become the technology of choice for next generation optical communication systems. In this paper optical OFDM system designed with single-sideband format (i.e., SSB-OOFDM) for long-haul transmission since it can overcome the inherent chromatic dispersion (CD) induced fading problem in a double-sideband (DSB) transmission. Moreover, traditional dispersion compensating devices such as Dispersion compensating fiber (DCF) used in multi spans with single mode fiber to reach to 288 km distance at 20 Gb/s. Therefore, the overall system performance based on SNR, spectral analyzer and constellation diagram for the single side band (SSB) OOFDM system gives a good result with 16 QAM modulation.
