Abstract :
The new antenna design of a multiband rectangular shape dielectric resonator antenna (DRA) which operates at around 1.8GHz (GSM1800), 2.2GHz (DVB-SH) and 2.6GHz (LTE-A) bands for wireless mobile communication handheld devices is discussed in this paper. The proposed DRA is designed with a size of 34mm × 33mm × 10mm and simulated by using the CST Microwave Software. The proposed antenna design, with an excitation feed using the microstrip line feed and air gap, is used to improve the bandwidth. The aim of this project is to propose an antenna that radiates at a frequency of LTE-A operating at 2.49GHz-2.69GHz (band spectrum for LTE-A) and the smaller size enables it to meet these requirements. From the simulated results obtained, the bandwidth of GSM1800, DVB-SH and LTE-A is 80MHz, 30MHZ and 200MHz respectively, and the maximum realized gain of 6.405 dB, 6.86 dB and 7.084 dB at 1.8GHz, 2.2GHz and 2.6GHz respectively. This project is a contribution in both, designing a simulation antenna and usage of dielectric resonator material to achieve better antenna performance.
