Abstract :
The partial discharge is an important parameter to reflect the insulation condition of XLPE power cable. The electromagnetic coupling method is the most effective method to detect partial discharge in XLPE cable. Based on the electromagnetic coupling means, this paper designs and develops a kind of transducer to detect partial discharge in XLPE cable. According to the choice of the appropriate core material characteristic of partial discharge signal, a serial of model analysis and test have been performed to determine the integrating resistance and coiling number´s influence on amplitude-frequency characteristics of current transducer. The key parameters of the optimal integral resistance and the number of windings of the coil sensor is determined. The test in laboratory and the installation in the field have proved that the transducer has wide working frequency band and high sensitivity which meets the request of XLPE cable partial discharge detection.
