Abstract :
With the growth of inter-utilities power exchanges and the spread of new and rapid monitoring technologies, the efficient modeling of external networks becomes crucial for a reliable and secure operation. This paper investigates the problem of bad data in interconnected networks when real-time evaluated external equivalents are attached. It is shown that, under this scenario, regular techniques of bad data detection can be applied for detecting and recovering corrupted and outdated external equivalent data. The approach is validated using the IEEE 118-bus system and a Ward Equivalent model. The results demonstrate that the adjusted equivalent networks have good agreement with the expected values, also keeping bad data on interconnection measurements detectable.
