Abstract :
This paper presents an integrated expansion planning model of electric and natural gas distribution networks that plan both networks as one system. The model also considers demand uncertainty of power and natural gas consumption. An integrated model is more convenient for utilities that provide both services since economies of scope can be realized. Additionally, demand uncertainty provides a more realistic approach, especially for utilities that want to analyze different expansion plans under distinct economic circumstances that impact power and natural gas consumption. Numerical results show that a low cost solution can be achieved that is able to supply different scenarios of power and natural gas consumption.
