Abstract
This paper evaluates the effectiveness of reactive reserves provided by distributed energy resources to increase the loadability of a weak area of the Hellenic Interconnected System. The effect of static capacitor switching is compared to reactive support provided by electronic converters at the same substations. The investigation has been focused on a specific potentially unstable contingency of summer 2010 spotted by the on-line VSA tool available in the Control Centre.
