Abstract :
A virtual cathode oscillator (vircator) has been studied as a high power microwave source. The aim of this study is to improve the efficiency of vircator. A microwave reflector has been installed in the output waveguide in order to enhance the beam-field interaction and the microwave energy extraction at the simulation. In order to support experimental development, numerical simulations have been carried out using 2.5 dimensional particle-in-cell PIC code, known as “MAGIC”. Various diagnostics have been carried out for the microwave power, frequency. As a result, we obtained maximum energy of 8.32 J when the resonator was tuned so that at the resonant frequency. We will obtain the reflection of copper plates from these simulations.
