Abstract :
Aggregating frequency spectrum to a mobile station is one of the promising techniques that will largely enhance the data rates for the next mobile network generations. However, radio resource allocation during fast user mobility remains challenging since unwanted handovers may occurs. In fact, users quickly move between different cell coverage areas of the different component carriers. In this paper, we consider a high mobility pattern of the users. We propose a new carrier component selection scheme in order to minimize the inter-component carrier handovers while meeting user QoS requirements. Two cost functions are introduced to first select the primary cell, then the secondary cell. Simulation results showed that not only the successful handover rate has increased by almost 10% but also more load balanced cells are obtained.
