Abstract
We demonstrate an approach to ambient mass spectrometry imaging based on fs laser-ablation-ionization. A weak fs pulse ablates a small portion of the sample within its focal region. The ablation plume is spatially contained by the ambient gas and then repeatedly ionized by a high repetition rate fs pulse train.
