  • Abstract
This paper introduces a new type of hexagonal shaped geometry based on metamaterial structure. The antenna structure developed the advantage of CPW feed to obtain wide bands and metamaterial structure to reduce size of the desired antenna. Dimensions of the proposed geometry of antenna is 29.6×21.7 in mm and thickness of dielectric substrate is 1.6 mm. The antenna is designed with RT Duroid material of dielectric constant of 2.2 and tangent loss of 0.001. Metamaterial hexagonal shaped antenna constitute bandwidth of (3.20-3.9) GHz, 700MHz at 3.61 GHz and (4.90 - 5.72 )GHz, 820 MHz at 5.15 GHz. Return losses at given resonance frequencies are better than -10 dB, gain of antenna is 3.88 dBi and Antenna efficiency is 97.5% which is excellent for corresponding applications. This antenna based on DNG material which is optimally utilized to incur compact size as well as for good radiation properties. This antenna is showing bi-directional radiation properties in elevation plane while omni directional radiation properties like monopole in azimuthal plane. This antenna is designed and simulated using Zealand´s IE3D software which is based on Method of Moments (MOMs).
