Abstract :
Simulation and Modelling of Pressure Part scantling is a utility package which performs the design calculations as per various national and international codes for all possible boiler designs. Such calculations are statutory requirements for the manufacturing of steam generators and this step is carried out after completing thermal design and basic engineering. Detail engineering of boiler follows only after the completion of scantling design and approval by competent authority. Despite being a mandatory requirement no attempt has been made to comprehensively model and computerise such design. One possible reason is the high volume of work, lack of expertise with domain knowledge and experience with additional knowledge of software development. This paper presents a complete model for the design of pressure parts as per the various national and international codes in a lucid manner. Model has high utility in industrial swathes. This package has been verified and won encomium from international organisation of repute and interest has been evinced by world´s first boiler manufacturer, “Babcock and Wilcox, UK.” Being open ended software, model can be expanded in both directions. It can be linked to graphics and also to thermal design.
