Abstract :
The emergence of dynamic applications (whose data flows and their associated Quality of Service (QoS) requirements vary over time) poses new challenges to the underlying communication system and in particular to the communication network. The DDS (Data Distribution Service) middleware allows applications to dynamically and finely express their QoS needs. However, they do not map these changing requirements at the network level and usually resort to network resource over-provisioning. To address this problem, we propose a solution based jointly 1) on the Software Defined Network (SDN) paradigm, which provides network flexibility; and 2) on the MAPE (Monitoring, Analysis, Planning and Execution) framework, which introduces autonomic properties into the allocation of network resources in an SDN / OpenFlow context.
