Abstract :
Combining multiple color image attribute measures by linear addition has been shown to be an effective method in evaluating color image and video quality. Therefore, appropriate selection of the linear combination coefficients determines the performance of the image quality measure. In this paper, training methods of obtaining the linear combination coefficients are discussed for two practical applications: (1) for image processing applications where images before and after processing have the same source; and (2) for video processing purpose where consecutive frames have different contents and suffer from different types of distortions. With the obtained linear combination coefficients, the overall image quality measure Color Quality Measure (CQM) is shown to be effective in benchmarking the qualities of images and video frames in terms that it has high correlations with subjective evaluation Mean Opinion Scores (MOS).
