Abstract
In the three-dimensional visible light (VL) positioning based on the conventional angle-of-arrival (AOA) parameter estimation technique, the AOA parameter estimated at receiver point becomes really not a fixed point angle but a random distributed angle within some probability range because of the multipath transfer characteristic of visible light, which provides us incorrect AOA parameter estimates, and then results in poor positioning performance. In this paper, in order to obtain correctly all AOA parameter estimates at one try, the multiple signal classification concept based AOA parameter estimation technique for VL positioning service is proposed and verified by simulation study. Through the simulation study, we can see that if the received VL signal at a photodiode array is regarded as a point AOA signal, then the AOA parameter estimate is wrong and the AOA parameter estimation meets with failure.
