            Abstract :
The results of the environmental impact assessment of the new port development in the South-eastern Baltic is discussed. The following parameters were evaluated: (a) concentration of suspended matter; (b) exceeding of the 10 mg/l limit for suspended matter; (c) spatial distribution of sedimentation; (d) changes of discharge in the pass between navigational canal and some parts of the Vistula Lagoon; (e) impact on surplus-concentration and extent of the increased water exchange between the canal and the lagoon. The positive and negative consequences of the port development are discussed.
