  • Abstract
The amount of data and the data flow in marine research are constantly growing, especially with the development of new ICTs. Data analysis, used in such research has a goal to find relations, links and structures in the data collected. Many different methods may be used: statistical analysis, geometrical analysis, conceptual structuring, visualization, data mining. 3D visual data mining combines methods of data analysis and visualization. The article will give an overview of 3D visual data mining methods, their strengths and weaknesses, and provide examples of application of these methods to data analysis in marine research.
