  • Abstract
    The goal of many elementary school courses is to develop abilities in solving math problems. Mathematics are everywhere in life; it can cultivate personal independent thinking ability, and is the most important tool in scientific research. Lively images or illustrations can effectively attract the attention of children, in turn elevating their learning interest. This study designed a digital game-based learning system for multiplication and division in basic mathematics on the basis of iconic representation animation. In order to help students in effectively understanding the meanings of word problems in mathematics and in dispelling troubles in problem-solving due to reading difficulties in mathematics. The results showed that iconic representational animated instructional materials can increase students´ learning achievements, better than traditional instruction with significant benefits.
