Abstract
This paper investigates the performance of spatial smoothing linear antenna arrays for multipath scenarios using experimental results. A Direction Finding System consists of an N-element uniform linear array and N-receiver units were developed and multipath scenarios were emulated based on coherent signals. For improved signal bearings estimation, Forward (FSS) and forward-back (FBSS) spatial smoothing techniques coupled with multiple signal classification (MUSIC) estimation were implemented and measured. Finally, measurement results are presented and evaluated against the theoretical expectations.
