Abstract :
In computer supported cooperative work (CSCW), users work together from remote locations where each of them performs specific roles. However, their roles are dynamic and they change their roles more often as compare to co-located environments. The process of changing roles is known as role transition. Role transition process basically determines who is authorized to trigger for changes, who is mandated to perform assignment, who is the best fitted candidate for the roles and what are the constraints imposed to the users. Rarely, the role transitions are translated into a programming language to support easy development of role transition management system. Currently, development of such system is mainly done by experts due to the nature complexity of CSCW. Thus, this research is intended to develop a set of highly abstract scripting language to support role-user assignment for easy development. To achieve the objective, a collaborative Monopoly game has been developed as a simulation to extract various parameters that are needed for role-user assignment. Then, their relationships are established. Based on the relationships, a new set of language constructs are designed and developed. Then, the language constructs are embedded via internal extension into JACIE language. JACIE is a dedicated scripting language focusing on speed development of CSCW application systems. Finally, the new set of language constructs is tested by developing a prototype of a call center that supports various role-user assignments. This research has successfully reduced lines of programming codes (as compared to Java) while preserving the briefness behavior of a scripting language.
