Abstract :
A simple dual purpose goblet shaped printed monopole antenna for Bluetooth and ultra wideband applications is presented. The antenna is designed to cover the frequency range 2.4-10.8GHz. It is a dual purpose antenna that can be used for both Bluetooth (2.4-2.48 GHz) and ultra wideband communication (3.1-10.6 GHz). The radiating patch has goblet (chalice) shape and substrate used is FR4 with dielectric constant 4.4. Compared to conventional designs, antenna is compact having size 35×35 mm2. Good return loss and farfield radiation performance is achieved. The speciality in design is its simplicity and compactness. Thereby, it can be easily integrated with mobile wireless devices for Bluetooth or ultra wideband applications.
