  • Abstract
Smart Home Security is designed to provide better security as well as energy efficiency and comfort. The paper presents a proposed smart home security (SHS) based on PIR Motion detector and MQ 9 Gas detection sensor. These sensors are monitored remotely by employing the communication networks. But the communication may be subject to delay, data loss and transmission congestion. The major challenge for smart home security is how to determine the suitable routing protocol, that ensures the data transmitted from a node to the other node as fast as possible. The paper makes a performance comparison between the Destination Sequenced Distance Vector and Ad hoc On Demand Distance Vector routing protocols which is presented in two scenarios, with different nodes, pause period and node speed by using Network Simulator-2 on Linux platform. The evaluation criteria of the protocols is tested for delay time, data delivery ratios with routing overload parameters. It is observed that DSDV offers better performance compared to AODV for SHS while DSDV has lesser routing carry and delay time compared to AODV.
