Abstract
Smart City concept is a topical issue. The main contribution of this paper is the performance evaluation of topology control algorithms that can be integrated in the Smart City concept. Thus, the following topology algorithms A3, A3 Coverage and EECDS are considered. The parameters evaluated are: the number of active nodes after the topology reduction algorithm is applied, the number of packets sent and the energy consumed for building the topology. From the obtained results we conclude that the topology construction algorithm A3 provides the lowest number of active nodes and is recommended for use in the Smart City concept.
