Multiport converters - a brief review

In this article I will present a short introduction about multiport static power converters. The advantages, disadvantages, but also the applicability of these types of static power converters are presented in this article. The versatility of those multiport converters topologies gives us the advantage of a large variety of connection (serial or parallel) not only for the input sources but also for the output loads. The applications of the multiport converters can be found in various fields such as : renewable energy sources, electric vehicles, UPS systems or hybrid energy storage systems.
