Abstract :
Recently, HTTP has been widely used for video delivery over the Internet. In many cases, a client receives video data via multiple concurrent connections regardless of limited bandwidth resource that may result in low quality of experience. In this work, we present a client-based method for sharing the capacity of a last-hop access link for multiple connections. Our method estimates the overall bandwidth of the access link and simultaneously controls TCP receivers´ window sizes to achieve a particular target bitrate for each HTTP connection. Experiment results show that our solution can maintain the throughputs of multiple connections and quickly respond to large bandwidth changes.
