Abstract
A millimeter-wave (mm-wave) dielectric resonator (DR) based, multiple-input-multiple-output (MIMO) linear antenna array is presented. The array elements are cylindrical DR antennas (cDRAs) operating at 30 GHz with a bandwidth of at least 2 GHz. The MIMO antenna system consists of two, four-element arrays, each with a fixed beam direction which is electronically tilted to provide low field correlation. In particular, a passive microstrip-based feed network is designed to provide appropriate magnitude and phase excitations for beam tilting. The complete array is designed on a two-layer PCB and occupies 50 mm by 20 mm making it suitable for inclusion at the periphery of any portable device. The obtained gain levels were approximately 9 dBi for each MIMO antenna array.
