Abstract :
We present the concept of wideband radio-transparent dual-polarized dipole antennas, based on suppressing the scattering of dielectric or conducting rods with suitably designed cloaks. The antennas presented here show low scattering cross-sections at all angles for plane wave incidence, as demonstrated in a conventional reflector-based setup. At the same time, the antennas are shown to be good transmitting and receiving antennas. Compared to a conventional cylindrical dipole with same cross-section, the realized antennas show over 10 dB suppression over a 45% bandwidth, while efficiently radiating as a dual-polarized dipole.
