Abstract
A waveguide is normally a rigid straight component that requires bending and twisting to directed the signals towards a desired direction. Typically, bent and twisted sections are designed to be much longer than the propagating wavelength to avoid abrupt changes in the transverse cross-section of the waveguide causing the distortion of the field patterns and introducing reflection losses. In this contribution, we present a novel approach to design compact waveguide bends. We connect a pair of orthogonal (90°-bend) and parallel (180°-bend) regular straight waveguide sections through a curved version of the connected bi-omega particle. Our preliminary numerical simulations show that the proposed passive particle is able to capture the energy in the first waveguide and transfer it efficiently in the second waveguide.
