Abstract :
The design of a rectangular WR62 waveguide fed finline (tapered slot) antenna is presented. The antenna utilizes a tapered E-plane ridge within the rectangular waveguide to provide a smooth matched transition. This type of antenna is targeted for high power phased array applications where dielectric materials are prohibitive. Simulation shows wideband characteristics from covering the full WR62 bandwidth. The antenna is comprised of an all aluminum construction. This type of antenna is advantageous for millimeter-wave antenna arrays where simple feed structures are preferred.
