  • Abstract
This paper presents a dual-polarized turn-style patch antenna for BAN on-body communication systems. Our target is aiming at achieving an orthogonally-polarized omnidirectional radiation pattern in the mounting plane of the antenna, which is similar to the turn-style operating principle. The analytical results of a design example show that the desired radiation characteristics can be realized using a microstrip patch antenna excited by two ports with 90 degrees out-of-phase by adjusting an appropriate size of ground plane at 950 MHz. This feature is anticipated to enhance the on-body radio links for wearable applications.
