  • Abstract
    A new dual-band metamaterial antenna is proposed and presented in this paper. The antenna comprises 2D-metamaterial patch array with coplanar waveguide (CPW) embedded in each patch. CPWs are used to shift the negative 2nd-order resonance mode of the antenna metamaterial structure into WLAN 2.4-GHz band (2.4-2.5 GHz). For WLAN 5-GHz band (5.0-6.0 GHz), positive 1st and 2nd-order antenna resonance modes are utilized. The measured antenna peak gain is 5.0- and 10-dBi inside the 2.4- and 5-GHz bands, respectively. Due to a compact size and high gain, the proposed antenna can be a good candidate for WLAN applications.
