Abstract
This paper presents a novel design concept for a compact multifunctional coplanar waveguide (CPW)-fed UWB printed antenna. The multifunctional characteristics of UWB notched antenna and narrow band antenna are achieved by loading the split ring resonator (SRR) and the shunt strip to the feed line. This concept has been extended to the dual band configuration with the loading of superstrate layer to the feed line. The notched frequencies can be controlled by changing the physical dimensions of SRR and are independent of the antenna configuration. The simulated responses have been presented to validate the concept. Experiments are underway and measured results will be presented.
