Abstract
This paper presents a design of novel and small two layers corrugated grooves millimetre wave antenna. The proposed antenna has dual resonance frequencies at 61.4 GHz and at 62.7 GHz with a bandwidth of 2.9 GHz and a maximum gain of 15.2 dB at 62GHz. The antenna has dimensions of 20mm × 19mm and overall thickness of 2.9mm. In comparison to the conventional corrugated grooves antenna, the two layers corrugated grooves antenna presented in this paper has 53% smaller aperture size, higher directive beam with smaller half power beam width, slightly better gain performance and lower side lobe level of about 5dB over its entire bandwidth.
