Abstract
A wide band 8 layers of perforated dielectric lens antenna is designed for the V-Band. The middle 4 layers are used as quarter wavelength dielectric matching sections to minimize reflection and maximize transmission. The reflected and transmitted waves amplitude and phase curves are obtained by varying diameters of air holes. The available hole size in a unit cell of λ/3 at 60 GHz, provides around 350 degree transmitted phase variation. The lens consists of 29*29 cells, which cover an area of 9.57λ*9.57λ. A conical horn with symmetrical far field radiation patterns and cross polarization ¡ -40 dB is used to excite the lens. The perforated multi-layer lens antenna provides, a maximum aperture efficiency of 39%, HPBW of 7.4 degrees, SLL of -21 dB, cross polarization of -35 dB, and a 1-dB gain bandwidth of 21.2 %.
