Abstract :
In this paper, a metamaterial based reconfigurable multiband antenna for RF energy harvesting is proposed. The antenna structure consists of a coplanar waveguide (CPW) feed which is connected to a rectangular monopole antenna at center, and is loaded with interdigital capacitor (IDC) slots. Frequency reconfigurability is bought in by switching the introduced diodes at one of the interdigital slot junctions which connects and disconnects the IDC slot with the `I´ slot based on the voltage across the diodes. When the diode is in OFF state antenna radiates at 5.35GHz and the maximum simulated realized gain is 1.93dB. In the case of diode in ON stage, antenna radiates as multiband with S11 measured at -11.78dB at 2.1GHz, -10.53dB at 4.36GHz and -16.87dB at 6.9GHz respectively. The maximum simulated realized gain found at 4.13GHz is 1.78dB.
