Abstract
This paper presents a novel optimization based technique to synthesize uniformly excited time-modulated unequally spaced linear arrays (UE-TMUSLAs) using firefly algorithm (FA). The relatively newly developed algorithm has been employed to accomplish the optimum set of inter elements spacings and on time duration (OTD) of the switches that are connected to the array elements to time-modulate the static element excitation. The objective is to synthesiz the far field power pattern with desired side lobe levels (SLLs) by suppressing sideband levels (SBLs) as low as possible. Numerical result obtained for 32 isotropic elements placed symmetrically with respect to array center is presented and the result is compared with the result that is published in other reputed article.
