Abstract :
This paper introduces a hybrid technique for image compression, where the image has been compressed in each stages of image transformation. The proposed technique contains a combination of Singular Value Decomposition (SVD), Discrete Wavelet Transform (DWT) and Discrete Cosine Transform (DCT) for image compression. In the first SVD stage, the singular values of low rank matrices have been discarded from the original image. The middle stage is designed by simply taking the approximation band in DWT domain. Finally, the property of DCT has been applied. Experimental results show that the proposed hybrid algorithm performs well to achieve a high compression rate as well as a compatible quality.
