Abstract :
Power System Stabilizers (PSS) have been using for many years with synchronous generator control system which improve power system stability by providing supplementary feedback signal. In order to ensure an efficient stabilization, the proper tuning of PSS is very important. This paper is focused on the tuning process of PSS connected to the single machine infinite bus (SMIB) system. The mathematical model of synchronous generator and PSS are analyzed. The system transfer functions in absence and in presence of PSS are derived. From the transfer function, by using frequency response, the PSS parameters are tuned. The simulation results are presented for a wide range of operating conditions to demonstrate the effectiveness of our proposed tuning method.
