Abstract
This paper presents a new control method for direct matrix converters (DMC) which combines direct torque control (DTC) of induction machines with direct voltage control (DVC) of the capacitors in the LC filter. It stabilizes the LC filter while advantages of DTC are retained. Passive damping is not necessary which improves the filter characteristics. The functionality is proven by simulation and experimental results.
