Abstract :
Aiming to increase vehicle performance, a method for thermal monitoring of critical drive components is presented. Using the example of an integrated starter-generator (ISG), with integrated clutch module and an internal combustion engine (ICE) attached, a finite element method-based thermal model is introduced. Based on this numerical model, which is verified using measurements, the thermal behavior of the permanent magnet machine is studied. The thermal influence of the vehicle integration on the drive performance is discussed, along with additional heat sources like the ICE and the dry friction clutch.
