  • Abstract
This paper presents an interleaved totem-pole bridgeless power factor correction (PFC) rectifier which consists of a coupled inductor and two interleaved bridge arms. The core utilization and power density are improved with the use of coupled inductor. However, it also introduces a serious diode reverse-recovery problem and increases the turn-on loss obviously due to the poor parasitic body diode of MOSFET. In order to solve the problem, a new control method is proposed and zero-voltage switching (ZVS) is achieved for all of the MOSFETs. In addition, the input current ripple is reduced further since a half of the output voltage is produced, which makes the voltage across the input inductor present three-level characteristic. Because of these merits, high efficiency can be realized under heavy load and volume of electro-magnetic interference (EMI) filters can be reduced. The operating principle of the proposed method is described in detail and the parameters designing is provided. Finally, a 500W laboratory prototype is constructed and used to verify the feasibility of the proposed control method.
