Abstract
This paper presents a simple and efficient power control method of a cycloconverter-type high frequency link converter for vehicle-to-grid applications in single-phase power systems. It includes a simple current reference generator for the purpose of P-Q control and islanding operation detection, a feedforward controller and a feedback controller. Since the proposed method employs trigonometric angles of the grid phase directly rather than the grid phase itself, the implementation is simple and the computation time for calculating angles is minimized while it yields accurate power control performance of bidirectional converters. A 1.6kW cycloconverter-type high frequency link converter by a fixed point digital signal processor is implemented to validate the effectiveness of the proposed power control method for vehicle-to-grid applications.
