  • Abstract
    This paper proposes an LCCL resonant tank based dc-dc boost converter. Difficulties in employing conventional resonant converters for boost applications are discussed. The novel features of the proposed topology are revealed which mitigate the drawbacks of its traditional counter parts. Significance of each circuit component is explained in detail. Characteristics of the proposed tank network is presented. Design criteria to achieve zero-voltage switching (ZVS) of primary side MOSFETs operating under phase modulation (PM) is derived analytically. Design of filter capacitor is described in appropriate details. Numerical simulation results are presented to validate analytical predictions. Practical evaluation of converter performance is done on a 160 W experimental prototype.
