Abstract :
This paper proposed a closed-loop pulse energy modulation (PEM) control method for a grid-connected three-switch buck-boost inverter. The three-switch buck-boost inverter was studied for both discontinuous conduction mode (DCM) and continuous conduction mode (CCM). Simulations verified the closed-loop PEM control method provided high-quality current injected to the grid and insensitivity to component parametric deviations and voltage variations. The controlled inverter transferred energy from dc source to ac grid efficiently and achieved a low-THD sinusoidal output current. Therefore, it can be concluded that the proposed control method is suited for buck-boost inverters in distributed generation systems.
