Abstract
The main technological challenges issues of ultra-deep-water umbilicals is taken to reliability of integrated high-voltage power cables and production umbilical (IPU) by electromagnetic interference and high thermal effect. Due to their functional intergraded system and cost-effectiveness, the aim of this study is to evaluate the thermal and electromagnetic characteristics of a large bore central pip and the PVC matrix, various metallic tubes for heating, hydraulic and service fluids and the electrical/fiber-optic cables for development of design methodologies. The thermal and electrical analyses are performed to ensure that the cable design comply with the specification and is suitable for its operation conditions. A detailed numerical analysis (FEM)-based parametric study were carried out with the aim of developing design procedure and making optimum IPU umbilical system´s recommendations.
