  • Abstract
This paper provides a comprehensive study on the life test method of the retired xEV(PHEV/HEV/EV) battery pack for smart house energy storage applications. First, the paper proposes a detailed model for a energy management system supported smart house. By utilizing historical household load data and Photo Voltaic (PV) panel power generation data, a 96-hour close-to-real mission profile of the battery pack was generated for the smart house application. Next, based on the simulated battery pack mission profile, a life test design method for smart house energy storage application was illustrated in detail. In order to implementing the designed test profile, a platform for battery pack test was configured. It includes a high power hardware test system and a CAN communication based SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) system. Data measurement/recording method and safety precautions of the test were discussed. Test result on a real battery pack is presented at the end of this paper.
