Abstract :
One major research topic in the PFC rectifiers area is represented by efficiency improving methods, while maintaining the unity power factor. In this paper, the single stage PFC rectifiers, namely the SWISS and 8-switch topologies, are investigated. New control strategy for the 8-switch rectifier proposed in [7] is introduced. Further, an interleaved switching strategy that enables cancellation of the AC-side input current harmonics reduction of DC-side voltage ripple is proposed for the two single stage PFC rectifiers. Performance of the interleaved SWISS and interleaved 8-switch PFC rectifiers, respectively for the SWISS and 8-switch PFC rectifiers is evaluated for various power ranges, based on simulation studies in GECKO Circuits environment. Efficiency evaluation is also provided. Higher power efficiency, than for the standard current source rectifier solutions they are based on, is assured.
