Abstract
Proxy Mobile IPv6 environments are able to provide mobility for telecommuters, without application-level interruptions. This technology is used for network-based IPv6 Mobility management to Mobile Nodes. The proposed test bench allows for analyzing, developing and testing adaptive routing algorithms between Proxy Mobil IPv6 entities. The test bench periodically collects Quality of Service parameters for each traffic class and provides them to any adaptive routing algorithm to select the best path for each traffic class as a function of the parameters that affect application performance. As a consequence, the border routers are able to react automatically to changes in parameters such as availability, delay, available bandwidth and required bandwidth. Also, the border router continuously transmits the parameters and user traffic routes to a server. The server displays the information in a graphical user interface. In this way the performance of the adaptive routing algorithm can be analysed and improved. According to our knowledge there is no similar development platform in IPv6 networks, able to react automatically to changes that affect applications performance according to network policies. The experimental results proved that the test bed collects and displays information in real time and the network is able to react automatically to changes in Quality of Service parameters. Using our proposed test bench was obtained a significant increase in network throughput compared to dynamic routing.
