Abstract :
Guides play very important roles in leading pedestrians to evacuate when emergency occurs. An extended guided crowd model is adopted in this paper to investigate the influence of the quantity and position of guides on pedestrian evacuation dynamics. Simulation results indicate that the number of guides has relationship with evacuation efficiency, it is not the more guides the better evacuation effects. Furthermore, different positions of guides can result in different evacuation consequences, and the choice of the reasonable guides´ positions has the relationship with the layout of the room and the density of pedestrians inside the room.
